大滝詠一のエンジニアとしての側面を日記形式で追うという画期的な試みが話題を呼んだ2022年3月刊行の書籍『大滝詠一レコーディング・ダイアリー Vol.2』の続編。前作が1979〜1982年に焦点を当てたのに対し、今回は〈はっぴいえんど〉解散後、当時は珍しかった個人スタジオ＝福生45スタジオを立ち上げ、エンジニア業まで1人でこなしながらキャリアのなかでも多くの作品を生み出した1973〜1978年にフォーカスします（時代をさかのぼるため、シリーズ第2弾でありながら書名は「Vol.1」となります）。数々の名作・名演誕生の背景はもちろん、福生45スタジオの成り立ちから作品ごとの録音手法の変遷まで、膨大な証言と資料の集積により、現在も多くのファンを魅了してやまないナイアガラ・サウンドの秘密を明らかにしていきます。
