- 著者所属: 広島大学理学部動物学教室Affiliation: In exautogamous clones (F_1) from stock W-10, the occurrence of autogamy was suppressed by serial isolation in the medium with excess food for about 100 days, during which cells divided consecutively 208 times without decreasing the standard fission rate of 2.0. However, autogamy occurred in all the clones when they entered into loder age. This autogamy produced viable F_2 in a high proportion. During the history of clonal culture, there appeared the immature period first, during which cells performed 30 to 60 consecutive fissions and never underwent autogamy even in starved conditions. The clones then entered into the mature period with the first occurrence of autogamy in their left-over cultures. The frequency of autogamous cells increased gradually, and reached 100% at the 80th or more fission of the clonal development. Thus, the exautogamous clones showed no sign of senility in asexual reproduction for about 100 days. However, another clone showed a high mortality of F_2 in maturity, although the cause was unknown. In the left-over cultures obtained from the 45th (case 1), 103th (case 2) and 208th (case 3) fission products of a F_1 clone, autogamy produced nearly 100% viable F_2 clones. Among the F_2 clones produced, deviations of the period of immaturity were 37 fissions in the case 1, 15 in the case 2, and 4 in the case 3. Further the frequencies of autogamous cell first occurred in the F_2 clone were 15% or less in the case 1, 26% or less in the case 2, and 60% or less in the case 3. It may be said that as the age of the F_1 clone advances, deviation of the immature period decreases and frequency of first autogamous cells increases in the F_2 clones. On the other hand, the F_2 clones from the cases 1 and 2 produce high proportions of viable F_2 after autogamy, but those from the case 3 yield viable F_3 in rather low frequency. The cause of the latter remains for future study.
