Note (General): 本研究は、社会的に日本語の必要性が低いにも関わらず、日本語学習者数が増え続けているメキシコの学習者を対象に、日本語をなぜ学ぶのかについて学習動機づけの観点から明らかにするものである。メキシコでは、日系移民子弟への継承語として日本語教育が開始されたが、現在はその意味合いはほとんどなくなり、外国語教育として大学や日本語学校などで日本語が教えられている。一般的にメキシコの日本語学習者は学習意欲が高く、とても積極的であると言われるが、実際にどのような目標や動機づけを持ち日本語を学んでいるかは調査されておらず、国際交流基金の調査（2017a）では、学習者数が世界でも23位にも関わらず、学習者の実態はあまり明らかになっていない。そこで本研究では、メキシコの日本語学習者がなぜ日本語を学ぶのか、どのようなことに興味を持ち学んでいるのかを明らかにすることを目的とする。
