日本の酒類のグローバル化 : 事例研究からみた到達点と問題点

本稿の目的は，各種統計データを精査し，主要酒類企業に対する聞き取り調査の結果に基づいて，日本の酒類のグローバル化の到達点と問題点を明らかにすることにある．国内の酒類消費は，1996年度をピークに減少を続け，2014年度にはピーク時の86.3％にまで減少した．こうした国内消費の減少に直面して，酒類企業は海外展開に大きく舵を切った．2005年に37千キロリットル，118億円であった酒類輸出は，2015年には，それぞれ110千キロリットル（298％増），390億円（331％増）となった．国・地域別では，①米国，②韓国，③台湾の順である．品目別では，①清酒，②ウイスキー，③ビールの順である．品目と国・地域別の組み合わせでは，①清酒は米国へ，②ウイスキーは米国およびフランスへ，③ビールは韓国へ，という流れである． 主要酒類企業とも順調に輸出や現地生産を拡大している．しかし，その一方で，さらなる国際展開には課題も残されている．第1に，清酒の場合，大吟醸酒など高級酒化が進めば進むほどワインとの競合が生まれやすい．第2に，ビールの場合，グローバル巨大メーカーや現地企業との競合がある．第3に，ウイスキーの場合には，国際的な高評価がほぼ確立した一方で，需要急増による原酒不足ゆえの品薄という問題がある．第4に，本格焼酎の場合には，各国固有の蒸留酒文化（中国の白酒など）があるもとで，在留邦人の消費という壁を越えられていないという課題がある．
