Enoshima Island
A land-tied island located in Fujisawa, Kanagawa. It has been a popular holiday destination since the Kamakura period. The Iwaya Caves, formed by wave erosion, are located at the innermost part of the island. The caves are said to be the origin of Eshima Shrine, one of the three major Benten shrines in Japan, and have been visited by many worshippers since ancient times.
