Kanazawa Hakkei
Eight scenic spots were located along the coast of Hirakata Bay in Kanazawa-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa. During the Kamakura period, the area was frequently visited by shoguns and other samurai. It is said that around 1694, it was named after a Chinese poem composed by Zen monk Shinetsu, who came to Japan from Ming Dynasty China, imitating the Shosho Hakkei (Eight Views of the Xiao and Xiang Rivers) in his homeland China. It was also painted in Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints by UTAGAWA Hiroshige.
