Nagoya
The capital of Aichi Prefecture. It is associated with ODA Nobunaga, TOYOTOMI Hideyoshi, and TOKUGAWA Ieyasu, and thrived as a castle town of the Owari Tokugawa family during the Edo period. After the Meiji Restoration, light industries such as the textile and ceramic industries thrived there. After the opening of Nagoya Port in 1907, heavy industries such as the machinery and chemical industries developed. Today, it is the central city of the Chukyo Industrial Zone.
