Nagoya Castle
A castle located in Nagoya, Aichi. Its construction began in 1610 by the order of TOKUGAWA Ieyasu. It was the first castle to be designated as a National Treasure under the old law in 1930. The tower keep with its golden shachihoko (votive tiger-fish roof devices) and Hommaru Palace were destroyed by air raids during World War II, but it was designated a Special National Historic Site after the war and later reconstructed with steel reinforced concrete.
