Yui
Part of present-day Shimizu-ku, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The name was also written as "由井" or "湯居" in ancient times. Satta Pass, which protrudes into Suruga Bay, was known as a difficult section and called the "Oyashirazu of the Tokaido Highway," while it was also painted in Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints as a scenic spot with a view of Mt. Fuji. The atmosphere of a thriving post town of those days remains to this day.
