This digital exhibition is based on the catalog of the special exhibition "Fauna and Flora in Illustrations: Natural History of the Edo Era" <RA55-H14>, which was held at the Tokyo Main Library and Kansai-kan of the National Diet Library from October 14 to November 28, 2005.

As a rule, bibliographic information is taken from the catalog of the special exhibition.

  • In principle, the title of the book is transcribed as it appears in the material, and is listed in parentheses. Square books are listed in [ ] before the book title.
  • Bibliographic information other than the title is not transcribed from the source material, but is standardized into a widely known form.
  • Only the principal author is listed.
  • Only the year of publication is given in the case of published books. For manuscripts, the year of copying and the copyist are given to the extent that it is possible to determine, while unknown manuscripts are simply referred to as manuscripts.
  • The number of volumes and other information on the form of the materials are given in terms of the overall quantity of the materials and the volume number of the exhibited materials, while the size of the materials has been omitted.
  • The size of the material has been omitted. The library's call number is indicated at the end of the document in < >.
