Aomori
A city located in the central part of Aomori Prefecture. Since 1871, the city has played a central role in the politics and economy of the prefecture as the prefectural capital. The Sannai Maruyama Site in the city is the largest Jomon ruin in Japan, and was inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list in 2021 as one of the "Jomon Prehistoric Sites in Northern Japan”. The city is also famous for the Aomori Nebuta Festival.
