Hakodate
Hakodate is located in southwestern Hokkaido. Hakodate opened as Japan's first foreign trade port in 1859 and played an important role as a port at the northern limit of the Shogunate's control over the region. There are many tourist attractions such as Mt. Hakodate, Goryokaku and Yunokawa Hot Spring, which is one of the three major hot springs in Hokkaido.
