Chichibu
A term referring to Chichibu City and Chichibu County in the western part of Saitama Prefecture. Part of the Chichibu mountain range, Nagatoro, a gorge in the middle reaches of the Arakawa River, is designated as a National Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument. There are many temples and shrines in the area, including the "Chichibu Sanja" (three shrines of Chichibu), consisting of Mitsumine Shrine, Chichibu Shrine, and Hodosan Shrine, and the "Chichibu 34 Sacred Places," which is part of the 100 Kannon Pilgrimage in Japan.
