Kiso
The Kiso River basin in southwestern Nagano Prefecture. The Nakasendo Highway and the section between Niekawa-juku and Magome-juku are known as "Kiso Road," which is mentioned at the beginning of Yoakemae (Before the Dawn) by SHIMAZAKI Toson. Fukushima no Seki ato (the Site of Fukushima Checkpoint), which was a transportation hub, is designated as a National Historic Site. Hakusan Shrine, which has the oldest shrine building in Nagano Prefecture, is designated as an Important Cultural Property. Nezame no Toko, known for the legend of Urashima Taro, is designated as a National Place of Scenic Beauty.
