Kobe
A city located in southeastern Hyogo Prefecture. It has long flourished as an important transportation hub on the Seto Inland Sea. In 1868, Kobe Port opened and became the gateway to Western culture. Since the Meiji era, heavy and chemical industries have developed there, forming one corner of the Hanshin Industrial Zone.
