Kujukuri
Kujukurihama Beach, facing the Pacific Ocean, is one of the largest sandy beaches in Japan. It extends approximately 66 kilometers in an arch shape from Cape Gyobu to Taitozaki in Chiba Prefecture. It is said to have been named Kujukurihama or Yasashigaura after a legend that Minamoto no Yoritomo ordered an arrow to be placed every 1 li (about 654 meters), and there were 99 li (kujukuri) on the beach. Sardine fishing has thrived here since ancient times, and it is now famous as a swimming beach.
