Miidera Temple
A temple located in Otsu, Shiga. It is the head temple of the Tendai Jimon sect of Buddhism. Its official name is Onjoji Temple. Since the Heian period, it has flourished with the worship of the imperial family, aristocrats, and warrior families. It was burned down many times during the Genpei Wars and Northern and Southern Courts Conflicts, but was rebuilt each time. It is known for the sound of its evening bell and is considered one of the "Eight Views of Omi".
