Exploring Japanese Landmarks in Nishiki-e and Photographs

Shiobara

A part of Nasushiobara, Tochigi. Motoyu Onsen is said to have first been discovered in 806, and the area is called the "Shiobara 11 Hot Springs" because there are 11 hot springs there. It is also known as a place associated with many great writers and literature, such as Konjiki Yasha (The Golden Demon), written by OZAKI Koyo during his stay.
