Yabakei Gorge
Yabakei is a scenic spot representing Oita, located in the middle reaches of the Yamakuni River. It is known as one of Japan’s three greatest places of rugged beauty. Rakanji Temple, located halfway up Mt. Rakan in Yabakei, has many caves and enshrines Japan’s oldest 500 arhat statues.
