Hosun
Hosun was a magazine devoted to the subjects of art and literature and was published during the late Meiji period. It was established in 1907 by three young artists--ISHII Hakutei, MORITA Tsunetomo, and YAMAMOTO Kanae--who wished to publish a sophisticated, illustrated magazine. Later, KURATA Hakuyo, ODA Kazuma, KOSUGI Misei, and others were added to the group, and a total of 35 issues were published before the magazine was discontinued in 1911. The magazine is known for its many self-printed woodblock and lithograph cover art and illustrations and for pioneering the Sosaku hanga (creative printmaking) movement.
