Mt. Fuji
An active volcano that lies between Yamanashi and Shizuoka. It is the highest peak in Japan at 3,776 meters above sea level, and no large-scale volcanic activity has been confirmed since the Hoei eruption in 1707. It has long been worshipped as a sacred mountain and has been the subject of paintings and waka poetry, so it was designated as a World Cultural Heritage site in 2013.
